Carricante

Historical vine of the Etna area where it has been grown since time immemorial. Described by Sestini (1760) in his memoirs on the wines of Mascali, owes its name to the abundant production that it is able to give.

Medium vigorous plant, medium leaf, medium cluster of cylindrical or cylindrical-conical shape, berries with a consistent skin of greenish-yellow color, golden in the face exposed to the sun. Late maturation.

The wine produced is particularly fine, straw-yellow with greenish reflections, with a good aromatic set with herbaceous, fragrant and floral hints, good gustatory structure, warm, savory characterized by a high level of acidity which makes it particularly suitable for aging in wood and preservation over time.

It is widespread in the province of Catania.
