Frappato

Uncertain origins, it is described by Sestini (1760) in his memoirs on the wines of Vittoria, a place where it is still cultivated today. Present mainly in the province of Ragusa and Syracuse, Frappato is a medium vigorous plant with large leaves and medium to large bunches, berries with a pruinose, thick and leathery skin, blue-violet in color. The grapes vinified in purity give an excellent wine of a light ruby red color, high winey notes, fruity and floral, medium-bodied, balanced tannins, fresh and soft taste, very harmonious.

The Dorilli winery was born from Planeta's desire to create a place dedicated to hospitality, by renovating and enhancing an ancient cellar and the adjacent farmhouse dating back to the early twentieth century. The vineyards of Nero d'Avola and Frappato are cultivated in the vineyard surrounding the winery, the base of the blend of the two wines produced: Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG and Dorilli. Cerasuolo di Vittoria is since 2006 the only denomination of controlled and guaranteed origin of Sicily
