Its name recalls the growth of the crown which like a cloak subtracts the bunches from view. It is a very ancient vine cultivated in consociation with other vines mainly in the province of Catania and Messina. Medium vigorous plant, medium-large leaf, medium cluster, spherical berry with blue-black pruinose skin. Medium-late ripening. The wine is fine with a ruby red color, a vinous and fruity aroma, a good taste, to be preferred as a ready-to-drink wine.
It is widespread in the provinces of Catania, Messina, Agrigento and Enna.
