The winery of Passopisciaro was founded in 2000 by the Tuscan wine producer Andrea Franchetti. The winery is located on the northern flank of Etna, at 1000 meters. The area planted with vines is about 26 hectares, between 500 and 1000 meters and the annual production is about 70 thousand bottles of fine wines from Etna. The Passopisciaro produces wines with the vines nerello mascalese, chardonnay, petit verdot and cesanese d'Affile. The nerello mascalese plants are sapling between 500 meters and 1100 meters; steep terraces at 1000 mt. for chardonnay, petit verdot and cesanese d'Affile bred with double guyot planted at 1000 meters. The soil is volcanic, rich in minerals, very fertile and well drained.
