A document of 1340 chronicles a dispute before the royal court concerning the possession of a particularly sought after fief, "Casalj Rabitallavi". This was the ancient name of the Tenuta Rapitalà. The vineyards, the modern ones of chardonnay and the old ones of catarratto, where we select the grapes intended for the wines which are the soul of Casalj Rabitallavi , are at the summit of the mountain which overlooks the Tenuta.
The Mediterranean wine, Rapitalà with Bouquet, defines the Mediterranean wine and, as always, produces it, starting from a precise agronomic plan: nowhere else in the south is the soil so suitable for the growing of richly aromatic grape varieties such as those chosen at Rapitalà for the planting of new vineyards: grillo, sauvignon and viognier. The result is a fresh wine which bursts forth in a vibrant way with the radiance of its fruity notes, and which merges into a marvellous floral melody.
Experimentation and research, in the vineyard and in the cellar, are expressions of the
tendency towards total quality that we find today in this year’s Leone d’Almerita. The great
size of the Regaleali Estate and the crucial overnight thermal excursion of more than 15°
C make it possible to freely choose which varieties to plant while ensuring the conservation
of the aromatic qualities of the grapes. This is how the new Leone d’Almerita was born -
fresh, aromatic taste and a clear personality, which combines the aromas and fragrances of
Catarratto Bianco and the smoothness of Chardonnay.
The figurehead, which in Italian is called Polena, is the unchallenged queen of marine ornaments and stands over the bow of ship. On the galleons of the 16th and 17th century, these wooden statues mainly represented female figures which brought good luck on the voyage. The magic bow accompanied sailors on their discovery of the world. Polena has once again the silhouette of a woman. It is a new wine to accompany you on the discovery of new sensations. First vintage: 2006.
From the disheveled tresses the color of the sun, seawater flowed over the green, wide-open eyes." Thus Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa describes Lighea, the bewitching siren and principal figure in his novel. She has inspired the creation of a complex and innovative wine and an equally original label. "It wasn’t easy to print this label," Gabriella Rallo recalled, "and preserve the thousand shadings of the original colors of the drawing." First vintage: 1990.

On the palate it's surprisingly elegant, flavourful enveloping and very sure of itself and its well deserved international fame.
